Keith is an experienced pianist and vocalist with a wealth of experience playing a variety of styles across Texas. He is currently the Staff Accompanist with the School of Theatre at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
Born and raised in Pearland, Texas, Keith has spent the last ten years serving theatres, youth theatres, and schools all across the Greater Houston Area. His piano playing has been heard in the productions of Stages Repertory Theatre, Sam Houston State University, Island ETC, ComedySportz Houston, On the Verge Theatre, HITS Theatre, Wildfish Theatre, and Creative Movement Practices, as well as at UIL events at many schools. He has also served as a music director for productions in many of these places.
Keith has a particular passion for collaborating with vocalists or other soloists and calling on his extensive educational background in choral education. Though he spent time as a choir director, over time Keith found his niche as a creative accompanist that is not bound to the notes on the page. Working together to create a fresh take on a song and bringing a new musical vision to life is one of his favorite challenges. While doing coaching sessions with students at SHSU, Keith often creates brand new mash-ups or takes on the classics to help facilitate performers in making the music that showcases them authentically.
In recent months, Keith has been spending more time writing original work and compositions. He wrote a piece for his university men’s choir in 2012, and is looking forward to re-igniting his creative spark once again and sharing the results with everyone.
Sometimes, his hobbies outside of music evolve into endeavors of their own. In 2016, Keith worked together with some friends to host a large Super Smash Bros. tournament, “Clutch City Clash”, that saw over 600 attendees from all over the country and broke local attendance records. While he is far less serious about smash bros these days, gaming still remains a favorite pastime.
Keith received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University (Nacogdoches, TX). He continues to happily reside in Houston to this day with his partner, Jessica.
